The Kuwait Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning to motorists, stating that failing to settle traffic fines on time could lead to severe legal penalties, including imprisonment.
Authorities have strongly urged drivers to prioritise clearing their outstanding dues as soon as possible to avoid strict punitive action.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the ministry clarified that delaying fine payments will leave officials with no choice but to refer the cases directly to the traffic court. Once a case reaches the court, the consequences become significantly harsher. Depending on the gravity and nature of the road violation, offenders could face much heftier financial penalties, jail sentences, or other stringent administrative and regulatory actions.
Convenient digital payment platforms available
To help motorists comply with the rules and avoid legal complications, the ministry highlighted that several convenient digital payment methods are readily available. Drivers can easily and securely clear their outstanding traffic fines through the official ‘Sahel’ mobile application or via the official portal of the Ministry of Communications.
