Thrissur: The Thrissur City DANSAF team has arrested the alleged kingpin of a drug trafficking network that was transporting MDMA from Bengaluru to Kerala. Riyas, alias ‘Kallu Riyas’, a native of Guruvayur, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Riyas was the key operator supplying MDMA from Bengaluru to drug trafficking networks in Kerala.
The investigation into the seizure of around 250 grams of MDMA from an ambulance at Vaniyampara in Thrissur in May led police to Riyas. Police found that the MDMA seized from the ambulance had been supplied by Riyas from Bengaluru.
Riyas had reportedly been absconding across different states for the past two months. Police suspect that he may also be the source of several large quantities of drugs seized recently from various parts of Thrissur district.
Riyas has been brought to Thrissur, and further investigation is underway.
