Amid torrential rains across the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kararagod. The remaining districts have been placed under a yellow alert.

The district collectors of Kottayam and Kannur have declared a holiday for all educational institutions tomorrow. In Kozhikode, educational institutions except professional colleges have been declared a holiday. This includes anganwadis, madrasas and tuition centres as well. In Wayanad, a holiday has been declared for coaching centres, religious study classes, and tuition centres. However, the holiday is not applicable to professional colleges and residential schools.
