Seethathode: They went bearing an invitation to an Onam feast, but found four tribal families facing hunger instead. Moved by their plight, the Moozhiyar police team soon returned with food supplies to help the families through the festival.
The police team, comprising Moozhiyar SHO A R Ravindran, SI Anilkumar, woman CPO Chinchu Bose and CPO Vineeth, had visited the tribal settlement near the Kiliyeranjankallu Forest Check Post at Angamoozhy to invite its residents to the Onam feast at the police station on Monday. During their interaction, the families told the officers that they had not eaten that morning and often went without food for days.
The police team immediately returned to the station and brought back essential provisions for the four families, including groceries, vegetables, fish, biscuits and other bakery items.
The officials also assured the families that transport facilities would be arranged to help their children get to school when classes resume.
The settlement is home to 17 members across four families. The food supplies are expected to help them get through the days until Onam without going hungry.
